Be part of Australia’s Largest Medieval Festival

As the largest of its kind in Australia, our festival draws more than 25,000 visitors to the region and 95% report that the festival is a great experience. It attracts a broad audience including families, fun loving life-long learners as well as passionate re-enactors of history.

The Abbey Medieval Festival is a core fundraising event to support the operations of the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology.

Volunteer for 2025
Volunteering creates an incredible opportunity to learn and be a part of the fascinating experience that brings the Medieval world at Abbeystowe to life. Many of our volunteers are with us for years and utilise all they learn for their own personal growth.
Stallholder for 2025
A Medieval Market was a place bustling with activities, from merchants hawking their wares to pedlars pushing laden carts through the busy streets selling all manner of products from pottery to haberdashery and clothing, jewellery to household goods.
PERFORMER for 2025

Music, dance, jesters, puppetry—the Middle Ages provides a wealth of inspiration for entertainment. Street theatre performers at the Abbey Medieval Festival contribute to the program and the overall ambiance of the Festival.

REENACTOR GROUPS for 2025
Cannon, armour, animals, and pavilions are great, but it is the re-enactors who truly bring the Middle Ages to life each year at the Abbey Medieval Festival!
These groups are dedicated to reenacting medieval life from Europe and the Near East from 600-1600AD.

This is a unique opportunity to be associated with a major South-East Queensland experiential festival held over three days every July that brings joy and wonder to a truly engaged and dedicated audience immersed in authentic medieval pageantry and lore.
