Stallholder FAQs
How do I become a stallholder?
If your product is medieval in nature; fits within our merchant time frame of 500AD – 1500AD (existed and used / eaten in medieval Europe or Middle East); and you are able to commit to adhering to our standards of authenticity, we invite you to complete an application form. You can the links to the applications forms above once applications open.
Please note: Food and Beverage stalls MUST apply via the Food and Beverage Stallholder Application Form. There is a separate application form for Craft and Produce Stalls.
What is a 'Craft and Produce Stall'?
Craft stalls include anyone selling clothing, homewares, beauty products, weapons, etc.
Produce stalls include those selling items that are not for not for immediate consumption (i.e. dry goods and / or alcohol). These items must be in some form of sealed packaging.
Remember, all products must have existed, been used, or eaten within the Festival’s merchant time frame of 500AD – 1500AD Europe or the Middle East.
What is a roaming peddler?
Peddlers are roaming merchants, selling their wares off the back of carts. If you are new to Festival, being a roaming peddler is a fantastic way to see the Festival while contributing to the medieval experience!
A peddlers license includes 1x dedicated parking spot. You will be required to provide your own merchant cart. Terms and Conditions apply.
Is my stall suitable for the Festival?
Our stallholders are dedicated to enriching our Festival by adhering to our strict guidelines and promoting a truly unique medieval atmosphere. We strive for authenticity wherever possible and as such, there are expectations and standards for our stallholders to follow. For example, our food and beverage vendors sell food that would have been eaten in medieval Europe or the Middle East. If it’s something that hadn’t reached the part of the world our Festival focusses on (e.g. chocolate), we don’t permit those items. We have a very helpful Stallholder Requirements guide that you can access here.
If you are still unsure, don’t be afraid to ask! Please email EventStalls@abbeymuseum.com.au.
What is expected of me?
We do expect our stallholders to contribute to the immersive medieval atmosphere by only selling products that fit within the timeframe and geographical locations that the Festival focusses on (Europe and the Middle East, 500AD – 1500AD).
You are playing the part of a medieval merchant so we also ask that you look the part! If you are selling stock that would have been found in the bazaars of Constantinople, then we would expect that your stall and own outfit is designed to fit that period and location. See our Stallholder Requirements for further details, examples and tips for kitting your stall on a shoe-string budget.
When do stallholder applications open?
Applications for Craft and Produce Stalls open early December.
Food and Beverage Stallholder Applications open late December / early January.
When will I know I've been accepted?
Reviewing and approving stallholder applications is a very big task – we experience very high demand! It is competitive due to the limited spots so please allow time for our volunteer Stallholder Coordinator to review your application and contact you.
You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission of your application – be sure to check your Spam folder too. If you don’t receive a confirmation email, please call us on 07 5495 1652.
